COSIMA HUBNER
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
What is Psychotherapy?
People seek psychotherapy for many different reasons.
You may be troubled by a worry you can’t stop thinking about, or a persistent feeling of unhappiness. Perhaps you find yourself turning more and more to habits such as food, social media, alcohol, or other substances simply to get through the day.
You might be struggling in the aftermath of an illness or bereavement, experiencing difficulties in a close relationship, or feeling stuck in your career.
Therapy – sometimes called the talking cure – can be helpful when you are facing challenges like these. It can also be valuable when there is not necessarily something ‘wrong’, but a sense that life could feel more meaningful or fulfilling.
You may wish to become more creative, pursue a long-held aspiration, or explore deeper questions about purpose and direction in your life.
How I work
My approach to therapy is informed by an appreciation of the influence of the past. Patterns of relating formed early in life can continue to shape how we experience ourselves and others.
By understanding these patterns more fully, we can begin to gain greater freedom and choice in how we live our lives in the present.
We will usually meet once a week. My aim is to provide a safe and supportive space in which we can explore whatever feels difficult or uncertain.
Feelings of all kinds, even those that seem confusing or unwanted, can become a guide. When they are given words, new perspectives can emerge and, over time, the possibility of change and new beginnings.
